अब पछताए होत क्या, चिड़िया चुग गयी खेत ~ धर्मक्षेत्र

आछे दिन पाछे गए, हरि से किया न हेत ।
अब पछताए होत क्या, चिड़िया चुग गयी खेत ॥

अर्थ :

सुख के समय में भगवान् का स्मरण नहीं किया, तो अब पछताने का क्या फ़ायदा। जब खेत पर ध्यान देना चाहिए था, तब तो दिया नहीं, अब अगर चिड़िया सारे बीज खा चुकी हैं, तो खेद से क्या होगा।

aachhe din paachhe gaye, hari se kiya na het ।
ab pachhtaaye hot kya, chidiya chug gayi khet ।।

Meaning -

During your good times, when you had the time and energy, you did not think of God. What is the point of regretting it now that you are in trouble? To illustrate, there is no point in regretting that you didn't pay attention to your farm, after the birds have eaten all the seeds.
